I esteem this feel-good movie! It’s a special treat to contemplate Sam, Johnny Depp’s quirky, sweet and child-like character, who makes grilled cheese sandwiches with an iron and entertains at a park with his impressive Buster Keaton-like routines. He looks and acts like someone who walked in from another era, maybe even another planet. Examine Depp’s facial expressions — intense and hilarious!

There are heavy moments, such as the bus scene: When the romance between Sam and Joon (Mary Stuart Masterson) is misunderstood, forcing the pair to hasten away, Sam comes face to face with the reality of mental illness as Joon becomes severely agitated with the voices in her head. But he never gives up on care for, finding a diagram to bag to Joon at the mental hospital by dangling acrobatically impartial outside her room from a window washer’s perch (my accepted scene) . And yes, there’s a joyful ending.

I watched this movie with my husband and our children (ages 10 and 12) . If you opinion to gawk Benny & Joon with kids, be aware that unpleasant words are dilapidated a couple of times, and there’s a romantic scene between Sam and Joon that’s slightly steamy but not distasteful. When eccentric Sam (Johnny Depp) enters the lives of a brother and sister, Benny (Aidan Quinn) and Joon (Mary Stuart Masterson), he changes their lives forever. Benny, it seems, is always afraid about his sister who seems to be autistic. He treats her like a baby, making distinct that she is never left alone. Highly bright, creative, and bid, Joon, however, chafes a bit under the thumb of her protective older brother, but she does have some issues, as there are distinct things that act as triggers for some unusual behavior on her allotment.

When Sam begins living with Benny and Joon, acting as a housekeeper-babysitter, Sam treats Joon like a regular person, and before you know it they are falling in appreciate, each accepting the quirks of the other with complete equanimity. Meanwhile, Benny is attracted to Ruthie (Julianne Moore), who owns the local diner. The only thing is that he cannot seem to concentrate on romance, as he is so insecure about what the future holds for his sister.

There are some twists and turns in the romances between Sam and Joon, as well as in that of Benny and Ruthie. There are some very droll moments, as well as those filled with superior pathos. I’m a mother of 4, and this Pilates Weight Loss DVD is the perfect workout to do at home. It’s really helping me tone my saggy “muffin-top” waist plot, while giving me the total stretching and strengthening I need. The visual demonstrations are very definite, and the detailed verbal instructions give me all the coaching I need to work on improving my pilates technique. This DVD is agreeable as it’s so easy to follow and has plenty of variation to support me working out for months to approach! It’s extraordinary how these Pilates techniques, that construct me feel so profitable by stretching my whole body, can really effect a enormous cardio burn too.

While it lacks the high adventure and fan-boy characters of some of Pixar’s earlier works, Rataouille will be regarded with more and more acclaim as time goes by. Critic’s rightfully praised the film in it’s theatrical release but American audiences didn’t assume to it as eagerly as past films. Zorro, a half-hour Walt Disney Productions TV series based on the eminent Zorro character, premiered October 10, 1957 on ABC. The final network broadcast was June 2, 1959. The Complete First Season is the definitive version that Disney Zorro fans have waited years for. Covering all 39 episodes that comprise season #1 (1957-1958), this diminutive edition (and numbered) 6-disc station of 30,000 includes a Certificate of Authenticity, a collectible pin (showing two crossed silver swords with Zorro’s conceal superimposed on top), as well as a black-and-white photo postcard showing Guy Williams in character as Don Diego. A booklet outlining the contents of the station can also be found here. Starting with the publication of Johnston McCulley’s narrative in a pulp fiction magazine titled All-Story Magazine, “The Curse of Capistrano” came out in 1919. Swashbuckler Douglas Fairbanks Sr. was the first to play Zorro in the movies (1920), followed by Tyrone Power over at 20th Century Fox in 1940. Disney purchased the rights to the property in 1952, but didn’t score around to loyal production until 1957. This marked the first time that a standing plot was built on the Disney lot in Burbank at a cost of $500,000. I have been practicing yoga regularly for about three years, and found this dvd to be a amazing addition to my practice. Most of the poses are simple enough so that they can be attained by beginners, however, the length of the practice and the quantity of standing poses makes for a vigorous workout. This one is not for everyone however, I was a professional athlete and continue to discontinue in splendid shape, and I found myself (after the first couple of practices) to really feel the workout in my aid. If you have not done a lot of yoga, you may want to launch with a less strenuous tape, however if you like to feel a deep stretch and don’t mind a few sore muscles, this is the yoga tape for you.

I gain three of Yee’s DVDs (Power Yoga the complete Workout, Yoga for Athletes, and this one), and Yee has not let me down yet. Each DVD is a microscopic better than the last. This one may be his best yet. I believe this DVD is a titanic intermediate level workout. The level of poses is not extremely complex, but he gives you a complete body workout in about 63 minutes. Those of you familiar with Yee’s “Power Yoga the complete workout” will impress that this work out goes 60+ minutes straight, versus breaking up the workout into three types (stamina, strength, and flexibility) . This workout will produce endurance for clear. I like how this DVD is a minute less rushed than the first Power Yoga DVD. The poses are held longer, and are slightly more difficult than the first DVD, but the travel is slower. In this DVD you may feel less rushed than you did in the previous Power Yoga DVD with titillating from one pose to the next. If you are original to Yoga, this may be tough for you. Although these poses may or may not be difficult for everyone, the sequence and the amount of time you expend doing them may be. I would suggest this tape for anyone looking to put an at home practice who has practiced for at least 6 months or better, and who wants to produce endurance. As I stated before Rod Yee comes through yet again with another mammoth yoga DVD.

I am reposting a review, as my previous review was deleted – AMAZON must employ the same censors as TNT. This is NOT the same version seen on TV — remarkable has been removed to facilitate “classroom viewing.” The TYPICAL practice is to included ADDITIONAL footage in a DVD release because the DVD doesn’t have to cater to TV advertising time and audiences with short attention spans. The DVD customer wants a valid film – didn’t TNT ever hear of “Extended Versions? ” Not only does this DVD NOT acquire additional footage – footage aired in the modern TNT TV broadcast has been censored. Its even more choppy than the TV version! Gone is Sitting Bull’s sundance prior to the Slight Bighorn – with associated deep native perspectives. The Wounded Knee footage is also heavily edited from the worthy more much version shown on TNT. Sanitized. The stark slaughter of the fleeing innocents – and hodgekiss guns – are gone. Instead we are left with the endless and lifeless side stories of Wheeler peripherals. The “extra footage” CD is also a extinguish — a lot of pontificating from actors, and the music video. Would have considerable prefered an extended version – geared to an adult audience enthusiastic in solid history – not this mishmash of mini vignettes. Additional scenes to better tie the yarn together – and non-santitized TRUTH. History is too necessary. This is a heavily edited, sanitized, and choppy film – with a cheesy CD extra with a comic video. Would have prefered the steady soundtrack and something with Joseph Marshall narrating. His narration in the film is one of the few sterling things, along with station shooting.

I was ready to select this residence and I even picked it up at the store and I was going to take it but then I noticed that it said it was edited for “classroom viewing”. The demographic for this note was not even terminate to child’s age. I also can’t assume of a single classroom that would air a twelve hour exhibit. It would occupy too long. I will recall this DVD when it is sold in its recent format and I relieve all of you to do the same.

The 7th Season of Smallville, unfortunately, has two fewer episodes due to the writer’s strike. Some of the problems in this season could be a vow result of this. Okay Smallville fans, we’re finally treated to what many people had been waiting for: Lana finding out Clark’s secret, AND Clark finding out that Lana knows. Many people, myself included, were expecting something astronomical for this occasion, since, for some people, they had been waiting for this moment for 7 years. The emotional climax is dry. One is almost forced to ask, “Is that it? Is this as mad as they can net? Clark FINALLY gets what he wants, and yet, he doesn’t seem as mad as he should be.” Okay, we all know that Clark will eventually raze up with Lois. But in that moment with Lana, I felt that there needed to be more than what they showed. I would contemplate that Clark would be delighted! I would judge that Lana would have a ton of questions to ask him, especially given their history.

Exit Martha Kent from the explain, enter cousin Kara (aka, Supergirl) . At first, I was extremely troubled about this addition. And yet, newcomer, Laura Vandervroot does a credible job with the miniature amount of time that she is on the note. While though-provoking, one unruffled can’t relieve but wonder how and when Chloe suddenly came upon this power. We are given no explanation or even possible theories.

Lois is as headstrong as ever, but toward the demolish of the season, her character begins to soften a bit, especially toward Clark. You can’t wait on but mediate that the writers are laying some groundwork for the future couple. I tranquil reflect Erica is the best Lois to play the fraction, and Lois has some titanic moments with Clark at the waste of the season.

Michael Rosenbaum is always astounding, even though Lex calm can’t seem to avoid getting shot. The only quandary is that Lex doesn’t seem to be around as grand. There are stretches where you miss him. I certainly did, considering he’s one of the strongest actors of the cast. There is a classic moment when Lex finally rids himself of the last imprint of qualified that is left. The scene after he has killed Lionel, and he throws “Alexander” on the fire shouting, “You form me outmoded!” is classic, vintage Lex, and Michael Rosenbaum has the character nailed frosty.

Tom Welling is generous as Clark. If he has one “weakness” it’s his inconvenience in showing staunch, marvelous emotion. There are scenes were he appears to be trying too hard, and it loses some punch because it doesn’t appear natural enough. His range as an actor has only grown with each season, but I’d fancy to peek him lose his anxiety of expanding his emotional range to include complete sadness and the sense of loss. He showed precise glimpses of this during the time when Jonathan Kent died. He’s also quiet a extraordinary director as shown in “Apocalypse” where Clark is given a chance to peer how things would be if he never came to Earth. As friendly as many episodes were, the season finale, “Arctic” is bit of a let down, especially when you compare it to past finales that always had shapely cliffhangers that made you fear the 5 months until you score out what happens! The pickle with “Arctic” as well as with the main storyline leading to it, is that it feels rushed. It was as if the writers were trying to rapid net through it as swiftly as possible (especially with 2 fewer episodes to work with) in order to accumulate things set-up for the next season. Unfortunately, the finale and main storyline suffer as a consequence.

Things might have improved greatly if they had done what other shows have done in the past: shoot a 90 diminutive finale. It lacked the emotional depth that Smallville has utilized in the past, and the storyline turned out to be only safe when compared to past seasons.

I’ve been in worship with “Smallville” since the first day I saw the pilot. I’ve grown up with this reveal, literally, and I’ll stick with it no matter what. That said, I stopped expecting broad or even valid writing from the exhibit a long time ago. Maybe Joss Whedon has evil me. When I study television now, I seek information from something immense. Fortunately, “Smallville” has enough going for it to fabricate up for the crap writing, but with fine writing, it could really be something ample. After Season One, though, things loosened up a bit, and when we hit Season Five, I figured that was probably as obedient as the note would ever be.

Everything honest cuts it, and that doesn’t execute for the most spicy season.

The season’s strongest point is the introduction of Kara, a.k.a. Supergirl, the other last survivor of Krypton. Laura Vandernoot is a splendid bit of casting. She’s got the Supergirl search for in her eyes. And guess what else? She can glide. As early as the second episode of the season, the writers tumble hints that Kara’s going to state Clark to cruise. In fact, the selling point of “Veritas” — which begins the final arc of the season and my personal least-favorite arc of the entire display — is that Clark needs to learn how to flit to defeat the resurrected Braniac (once more played by the peerless James Marsters) . But Clark doesn’t learn to sail, and there’s never any reason given for why he doesn’t. He unprejudiced doesn’t. By the raze of Season Seven, Clark quiet has not flown. That’s a puny ridiculous.

The long-anticipated return of James Marsters as Braniac is one of the more spirited parts of the season. But despite a promising re-introduction, Braniac winds up as slight more than a background figure. He doesn’t even feel like distinguished of a menace. He crops up and now and then to give the storylines a microscopic push, and then he’s gone. It’s really a dreadful design to Marsters and a misuse of the series’ finest non-Luthor villain.

Speaking of the Luthors, this season is a vast one for the devilish duo. Lex takes his final steps toward becoming the mega-bad-guy he is in the droll books. Despite this, the character only shines thrice through the season. The first time is in “Rupture,” an engrossing petite headtrip in which Lex is shot and Clark must go inside his mind. I’m not positive why, and I don’t believe the writers were that positive either. This final see into the mind of Lex Luthor reminds us of how kind he was when the demonstrate began — and how not-so-kind he is now. The second time is a moment in “Hero,” when Lex decides he needs to torture someone for information. Rosenbaum has rarely been better. In that scene, a cloud of absolute blackness surrounds Lex, and we ogle fair how corrupt he has become. The third time is in the season finale, “Arctic,” in a scene which “Smallville” fans have been dreaming of for some time. Tempting as it is, I won’t direct what happens. As for Lionel, well … things don’t go so well for him. Through this season, Lionel doesn’t abet powerful of a purpose. John Glover, arguably the most talented actor ever to feature on the present, is left unable to do noteworthy of anything. So in “Descent,” Lionel dies. And the worst share? I didn’t even care. I’ve always loved Lionel, but the writers had done such a dreadful job of fleshing him out recently that he seemed more like a cardboard cut-out tossed into a scene here and there. When that happens, something is heinous.

That’s really the contrivance most of the season is, though. It does have a few very splendid episodes. The season premiere, “Bizarro,” stays factual to the “Smallville” tradition of friendly premieres. Playing Bizarro is the only chance Tom Welling gets to shine anymore. The third episode, “Fierce,” is not going to contemptible highly in the pantheon of astronomical “Smallville” episodes. The episode revolves around three contestants in Smallville’s annual beauty pageant who settle to pick advantage of Kara when she decides to compete in the pageant. It doesn’t sound that obliging, and it isn’t, but I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of the earlier episodes of the expose, when, even if the stories weren’t that marvelous, the writing was strong as the Man of Steel, there was an incessant soundtrack loaded with today’s most favorite music, and there was color — lots and lots of color. You don’t gather that in a season filled mostly with icy purples and metallic blues.

In “Cure,” Dean Cain (of “Lois & Clark”) finally guest stars. Oliver Queen, alias the Green Arrow, returns in “Siren.” Queen was the best allotment of Season Six, because Justin Hartley is a terrific actor. Beside being one of the most fair men to ever appear on “Smallville,” Hartley can turn even the most funny writing into something cracking and witty. It’s a pity he only shows up for one episode. Also in “Siren”: Dim Canary makes her first appearance. Nice.

The best episode of the season, surprisingly, is the one that looked like it was going to be the worst. “Apocalypse,” directed by Tom Welling, is the inevitable Capra episode, in which Clark is shown what the world would be like if he had never arrived on Earth. Sound ridiculous? It obvious does. But it’s not. It’s a blast. The writing is strong and even clever, the acting is mammoth, and the execution of the premise is surprisingly fun. A lot of this fun comes from seeing some actual sparks hover between Clark and Lois. Given the focus on Clark’s relationship with Lana, one might wonder if it would be convincing for Clark and Lois to ever have a relationship on “Smallville.” But this episode proves it would be, because the chemistry between Welling and Erica Durance is absolutely improbable. The final treat: for two minutes, we pick up to gaze Clark in his disguise as a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet.

Those are the better episodes of Season Seven. Now for the unpleasant ones.

“Gemini,” in which one of Lex’s passe experiments plants a bomb on Lois Lane, is ridiculous and pointless. But “Hero” is a massive disappointment. It features the very, very long-anticipated return of Pete Ross (and Sam Jones III) to the note, and it obvious as hell wasn’t worth the wait. It’s fairly positive that the episode was written for another character to return; when that actor wasn’t available, they re-wrote it honest enough so it could fit Pete. But it doesn’t: Pete doesn’t feel like Pete. Additionally, Clark doesn’t seem to really care that Pete’s help. Wasn’t Pete’s best friend since they were in kindergarten? He comes serve and Clark doesn’t give a hoot? Approach on!

Let’s not forget “Sleeper,” either, an episode which lives up to its title. The increasingly contempt-worthy Jimmy Olsen is hired by the F.B.I. as a superspy to withhold track of Chloe, who somehow has managed to hack in to the government’s computers. It’s foolish, it’s painful, it’s embarrassing – it’s “Sleeper.”

The dependable stinkers of the season are the final episodes. The season was gash down to 20 episodes thanks to the writers’ strike — and I mean THANKS to the writers’ strike. Anything more than 20 episodes would have been pushing it. The final few episodes feature the stupidest, most pointless, and most absurd storyline the writers have ever concocted. Apparently, Lionel and his worn rich pals were section of a secret group called “Veritas” — Latin for “truth” — which believed that some day, the “Traveler” would near to Earth and establish its people. Guess who the “Traveler” is? Yep, it’s Clark. The penultimate episode of the arc, “Quest,” which features a painful guest appearance by Robert Picardo, is absolutely the worst episode of the entire indicate.

Finally, the season concludes with “Arctic.” It is the weakest finale the demonstrate has had, but considering the consistently high quality of the series’ finales, that’s not a terrible thing at all. The ending scene, with the aforementioned twistiness and all, is one of the most spectacular scenes of the entire series.

The note really needs to secure going if they’re going to tie this all together. The absence of Michael Rosenbaum next year will capture some getting archaic to, but I mediate it was a wise recede. The absence of Kristin Kreuk is a wiser depart, because, though she seems like a ample person in dependable life and I like her, Kreuk’s character is immensely irritating. Besides — shouldn’t Clark and Lois come by together? Let’s hope so. And let’s hope the writers glean it together too.

This is a toothsome vintage movie that has had several remakes, the most new being “You’ve Got Mail” with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Having seen both versions, this 1940 film has got it beat. Beautifully directed by Ernst Lubitsch, this is a charming, romantic comedy that sets the standard for this genre of film.

The premise of the film is simple. In Budapest, Hungary, a young woman advertises for a pen pal, with the proviso that each are to remain anonymous. A young man responds to her ad, and they inaugurate corresponding and descend in like through the mail. Unbeknownst to them, these two amorous correspondents, Alfred Kralik (James Stewart) and Klara Novak (Margaret Sullavan) are co-workers in a leather goods shop owned by Hugo Matuschek (Frank Morgan of Wizard of Oz fame) . Unfortunately, they do not appear to secure along, and the words glide posthaste and indignant between them at times.

There is also a strong sub-plot in this film, captivating the cuckolding of Mr. Matuschek by his wife of twenty two years. It is a sub-plot that causes a greatly anguished Mr. Matuschek to turn on an employee whom he holds most dear. This sets in to motion a sequence of interconnecting events and revelations that work beautifully, setting the film for its final resolution between the two main protagonists, Kralik and Novak.

James Stewart gives a terrific performance as Kralik, the working stiff who is objective looking for the factual girl and finds her where he least expected. Stewart always shines when playing the classic Everyman. Margaret Sullavan, as Novak, gives a pert and sassy performance that belies her longing for romance in her life and for her knight in intelligent armor. Her consuming tongued banter with Kralik disguises an attraction that even she does not fully understand. As they say, there is a exquisite line between care for and abominate.

Frank Morgan gives a well-nuanced, scene stealing performance as Matuschek, the shopkeeper whose heart is initially broken on a number of fronts. In the ruin, he rights what went putrid and finds some surcease for his psychic injure by bringing some happiness to another person. Felix Bressart, as the profitable Pirovitch, Kralik’s friend and co-worker, and Joseph Schildkraut, as the unctuous Ferenc Vadas, a co-worker whom Kralik detests, are also to be lauded for their performances. William Tracy, as the indefatigable Pepi Katona, the store messenger on the earn, is absolutely delectable.

This is a masterfully directed film, with improbable performances by the entire cast. It is a film to be remembered and added to one’s personal collection. Bravo!

This is my all-time popular romantic comedy (and I am a customary film fan) . YOU’VE GOT MAIL is OK, but the unusual film makers had to upgrade Hanks’ character to effect him rich and threw in unnecessary sexual complications for both characters, thereby detracting from the main set. IN THE Great Conventional SUMMERTIME, the Judy Garland musical version of the same situation, has the acrimony between the two main characters so strong that it is completely improbable when they suddenly descend in savor. Only this movie has the perfect touch throughout. The makers of the stage musical, SHE LOVES ME, wisely stuck with the SHOP AROUND THE CORNER area and produced a most delectable point to.Stewart and Sullavan create a honorable team, with objective the factual balance in their developing relationship to effect the ending not only possible, but even inevitable. The supporting cast is nearly perfect, especially the always great Frank Morgan. Felix Bressart, as Pirovich, and Joseph Schildkraut, as the arrogant but slippery villain, are a delight to gaze.Don’t fair rent this movie–buy it! You will want to observe it again and again. And each time will seem as unique as the first, because there isn’t a counterfeit effect in the whole film.

I’m a dyed-in-the-wool Logan’s Accelerate fan, if such a thing exists, and was contented to stare the film released to DVD. The transfer looks vast, and the letterboxed format preserves the elegant cinematography.The acting is, by and grand, fine wonderful. The Aerial belief of the city that opens the film looks really cheesy, but the Carrousel sequence is downright eerie. It is even more worthy when you learn that the whole sequence was done in-camera, on-set with no compositing aside from the white beam of light that emanates from the ceiling. The compositing and matte paintings are breathtaking.The film takes a lot of flak for its costumes and for looking like it was shot in a shopping mall. I consider the costumes are moot–who know what we’ll be wearing in the future? These people live in a hedonistic, weather-free society. It stands to reason that they would be very revealing and purely cosmetic for those very reasons. As far as the gape of the sets goes–this is a materialistic, consumer-mad, hermetically sealed society that the film portrays–of course its going to ogle like a shopping mall.The film is not exactly an upright representsation of the events in the book (something I wouldn’t mind seeing someday) . Budgetary, time and technological constraints would made doing so impossible at the time. Serene, it holds up well on its acquire merits.One last note: Am I the only one who finds the esteem myth angle of this movie touching? It’s titillating to look two people experiencing appreciate for the first time, especially in the world portrayed in Logan’s Bustle, where people don’t have lasting emotional ties to one another.What the care for memoir kind of implies is that this is the first time in hundreds of years that people have notion and felt in terms of strong emotions for each other. Michael Anderson, Jnr. gives a nice cameo performance as the surgeon hired to alter Logan’s appearence. Made for $6 million, Logan’s Speed looked quite proper when it was released in 1976. The symbolism of having Francis and Logan fight in the House of Representatives with an American flag was quite evident given the year of release (1976) .

In many respects the themes in the film are more timely than ever. The obsession with youth, looking gracious and plastic surgery have arrive to explain our culture in the 21st Century. The only thing missing from the film are botox injections.

Jerry Goldsmith’s radiant win is a highlight of the film. Like his gather for Planet of the Apes, Goldsmith chose to go with a mix of sythesizers and orchestra to represent the city of the future. He eschews cliches in his music and the various themes and cues are at turns suspenseful and witty. The optical effects are glowing qualified given the time. The matte paintings by Albert Whitlock are outstanding and fairly convincing. The miniatures are a mixed bag. They didn’t observe completely convincing in 1976 nor do they today. Portion of the scrape has to do with the fact that waters don’t fare well when placed in miniatures. You can’t miniaturize the bubbles and water drops. Also, the exhaust of the miniatures in combination with live action is quite grainy due to the film stock and amount of composites. Unexcited, if you can suspend your disbelief, you’ll indulge in the film despite its limitations.

Logan’s Urge attempted to bid an adult cautionary chronicle in a world of light weight escapist movies. It’s a commendable film and the film makers frequently bite off more than they can chew. I’d rather have a film that’s too ambitious than not at all.

Still, I be pleased the ambitions if not the execution. It’s nice to finally have this handsome if flawed movie on DVD. The transfer is quite kindly although the print has a number of flaws. There’s also quite a bit of dirt evident on the print. These probably could have been cleared up with a instruct digital transfer. Additionally, the 5.1 soundtrack occasionally sounds “tinny” and when played in the stereo format can be quite difficult to hear.

The extras are shrimp but nice. The commentary by director Michael Anderson and Michael York is quite satisfactory and informative. A pity the terrific actor Richard Jordan isn’t around any longer to give us his perspective. I would have liked to leer a current retrospective documentary on the making of the film. It’s not likely to happen, though as no one is going to champion this film at the expensive of other newer projects (particulary since producer Saul David is gone) . The featurette included is the current one made to promote the film. It’s actually blooming decent given the age and purpose of it. The trailer is included as well. The disc is a dual sided single layer DVD with the widescreen and pan & scan versions on the same disc.
